Nabbing the lead role in romantic comedy 'Bad Teacher', the 'SexyBack' singer will star as a substitute teacher and heir of a watch fortune opposite his former real-life girlfriend.
Justin Timberlake is reuniting with ex-girlfriend
Cameron Diaz, but it is only for the big screen. The former member of boyband
NSYNC has been signed to take on the male lead role of "
Bad Teacher", for which he will star opposite the Natalie Cook of the recent "Charlie's Angels" feature series.
In the movie, the 29-year-old singer-actor will be playing a substitute teacher who is also the scion of a watch fortune. Meanwhile, 37-year-old Diaz will star as a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher who, after being dumped by her boyfriend, sets her sights on a colleague who is dating the substitute teacher.
Joining Timberlake and Diaz in the cast ensemble are Molly Shannon, Eric Stonestreet,
Jason Segel, John Michael Higgins and Lucy Punch. While there are yet words on what character Shannon and Stonestreet will tackle, Segel is set to be a gym teacher, Higgins stars as the principal, and Punch will portray Diaz's colleague.
Principal photography for "Bad Teacher" will begin this March in Los Angeles. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky provided the script, and Jake Kasdan has been tapped to direct with Jimmy Miller serving as its producer. Columbia Pictures eyes a 2011 U.S. release for the romantic comedy.
Justin Timberlake began dating Cameron Diaz after their first meeting at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in April 2003. They ended their romance in 2007. The star of "
The Open Road" has lent his voice to Artie Pendragon for "
Shrek the Third", and will be heard reprising the voice role in "
Shrek Forever After". He will soon be seen starring as Sean Parker in "
The Social Network".
