The 'I Kissed a Girl' hitmaker in in talks to portray Smurfette in the live-action/animated movie, joining Jonathan Winters, George Lopez and Alan Cumming.

Katy Perry is likely to lend her famous voice in "
The Smurfs". She won't be belting a tune in the live-action/animated movie for Sony Pictures though. Instead, Variety reported that the "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker is in negotiation to give voice to Smurfette.
Should the negotiations goes smoothly, the 25-year-old will be joining the voice cast that includes Jonathan Winters,
George Lopez and
Alan Cumming. Winters will provide voice to Papa Smurf, Lopez is on board as Grouchy Smurf, and Cumming will be heard taking the role of Gutsy Smurf.
Created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford aka Peyo, "The Smurfs" has spawned into comic book series as well as Hanna-Barbera Productions' animated television series. Its movie version will be directed by Raja Gosnell using a script by David N. Weiss, J. David Stem, Jay Sherick and David Ronn.
Neil Patrick Harris has already signed on as the movie's live-action character. Filming was said to start in April as the movie is slated for a U.S. release on July 29, 2011.
