As more sneak peeks at "The Runaways" are presented, a look into the first encounter between Kristen Stewart's Joan Jett and Stella Maeve's Sandy West is offered. In a newly-released clip, Jett gets to meet drummer West after she introduces herself as a guitarist and unveils her plans to form an all girl band.
Another clip, in the meantime, was put forth by Rolling Stone and sees the two jamming together in a cramped studio. While they bang out raw rehearsal tunes, manager Kim Fowley listens on the other end of the phone. After asking for a report, he then says, "Well, get back to it, you bitches are going to be bigger than the Beatles!"
"The Runaways" is a biopic that will follow Joan Jett and Cherie Currie as they navigate a rocky road of touring and record label woes. They also have to deal with their abusive manager, all in while their teen years. Kristen Stewart and Stella Maeve are joined by Dakota Fanning, Scout Taylor-Compton and Alia Shawkat.
The movie is directed and penned by Floria Sigismondi with Jett serving as executive producer. Having been premiered at the 26th Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, January 24, it will be dropped in theaters across the U.S. on April 9.
