Brushing off overdose possibility, the former teen star's agent Mark Heaslip claims that it took the ambulance a full twenty minutes to get to the house after a 911 call was made.
While many ponder on the likelihood that Corey Haim died of drugs overdose, agent Mark Heaslip blamed the late arrival of the ambulance. Bringing forth new development regarding the death of the '80s teen star, TMZ reported that the agent claimed that the ambulance called to the apartment of Judy, the actor's mother, came "too late".
Heaslip told TMZ that Corey had a fever and was having trouble breathing in the hours leading up to his death. A doctor has come over to check up on him, but said that the actor "actually looked very good". At around midnight, Judy woke up and found Corey standing over her before collapsing. She then made a call to 911. However, it wasn't until 20 minutes later that the paramedics arrived to the scene.
The agent who has been working with Corey for the past year-and-a half also slammed possibility of overdose as the cause of the 38-year-old's death. "I really don't think it was an overdose," he said. "He was doing really well. He did struggle with substance abuse, but I've repped him for a year-and-a-half and part of my agreement with him was that he had to be clean. That was the number one priority."
Corey Haim passed away on Wednesday, March 10. Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter stated, as reported by Radar Online, that the star of "The Lost Boys" was alive, but weak when emergency personnel arrived at his apartment building near Burbank, California. The paramedics then took him to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 A.M.
According to Winter, no illegal drugs were found at the scene, but four prescription bottles were found inside the apartment. An investigation to determine the exact cause of death is underway by the Los Angeles County coroner's office. However, Los Angeles police said earlier that the actor is likely to die of an accidental drug overdose.
Soon after news of Corey's death came out, a number of his friends and colleagues took it to Twitter to express their final respects.
Alyssa Milano who once dated the actor tweeted, "Just woke up to the sad, sad news that Corey Haim passed away. RIP sweet boy."
Christina Applegate posted, "My thoughts go out to Corey's family and friends today. So sad," while
Ashton Kutcher came out with "Rip Corey Haim 'Childhood hero.' "
