Slamming speculation that drug overdose may be the cause of her son's death, Judy Haim reveals that Los Angeles County Coroner has told her that Corey died of pulmonary congestion.
A shed of light is breaking out on what may have been the cause of Corey Haim's death. Although Los Angeles police suggested earlier that the former teen heartthrob is likely to die of an accidental drug overdose, his mother Judy Haim has come out with a new revelation stating that he died of pulmonary congestion.
Talking to Access Hollywood's Maria Menounos, Judy claimed to have received a call from Los Angeles County Coroner on Thursday, March 11. The mother of the "Lucas" star went on to give further detail, saying she was told that the autopsy performed determined Corey's heart was enlarged and his lungs had filled with water.
Official findings from the autopsy will not be released for up to six weeks though since it is still pending the results of toxicology tests. Earlier, the coroner's office has confirmed that four bottles of prescription medication were found near Corey's body, and that the actor had suffered from flu-like symptoms for two days.
While no funeral date has yet been set, Judy has also confirmed that Corey will be laid to rest in his native Toronto, Ontario. As for the reason for the choosing of the final resting place, she told Access "it was important for her to have her son laid to rest near family so she can visit him." Manager Mark Heaslip, additionally, informed Us Magazine that there will be a memorial in L.A.
Corey Haim passed away on Wednesday, March 10. Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter stated, as reported by Radar Online, that the star of "The Lost Boys" was alive, but weak when emergency personnel arrived at his apartment building near Burbank, California. The paramedics then took him to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 A.M.
