Announcing Separation, Kate Winslet Said Bored With Sam Mendes

While reports of her split from director husband send shockwaves, the Oscar-winning actress is spotted in two-piece black bikini on the deck of a boat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Kate Winslet has stunned the world with news that she is separating from director husband Sam Mendes. The official statement suggested the split was "entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement," but Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 came out with the inside scoop stating, "Kate was bored with Sam."

Friedman went on to report that the break-up between the Oscar-winning actress and the "Revolutionary Road" helmer actually took place in summer of 2009, in contrast to what is mentioned in the official statement. Adding more to the split story, the journalist quoted a source as saying that the two "drifted apart" after nearly seven years of marriage.

On Monday, March 15, London-based law firm Shillings announced the separation. In an e-mailed statement, it informed media, "Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."

While reports of their split made their rounds, Kate has been caught on camera enjoying her holiday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Wearing a two-piece small black bikini, the 34-year-old actress was snapped relaxing on the deck of a boat with a cigarette on one hand and a drink on the other. Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes got married on May 24, 2003 on the island of Anguilla in the Caribbean. In December the same year, they welcomed their first son Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes. Kate herself has another child, daughter Mia Honey, from her previous marriage with director Jim Threapleton.
