Words on the street are, ABC is finalizing deals with the former 'American Idol' judge for her to host and judge the updated version of the singing competition.
Paula Abdul may have found herself a new TV gig post-"American Idol" with another singing competition show. According to Entertainment Weekly (EW), the former judge of FOX's hit talent show is in negotiations with ABC to join the updated version of "Star Search".
This is the first permanent gig Abdul has been attached since she announced her exit from "AI" in summer 2009. Nonetheless, no deal has been signed just yet and what part the 47-year-old will take on remains sketchy. Still, it is suggested that her job will "include some combination of hosting and judging".
ABC has started to woo the singer who won a Grammy for her "Opposites Attract" music video ever since she officially left "AI". Numerous reports suggested that she might take part on season 10 of "Dancing with the Stars". However, when the dancing show unraveled its contestants in early March, she was nowhere to be found on the list.
In the meantime, the new "Star Search", as reported by EW, is being targeted for this summer. This isn't the first time the show, which premiered in 1983 with host Ed McMahon, was resurrected. In 2003, CBS brought back the show with Arsenio Hall serving as host. But, it lasted only for a short while as it got the axe on 2004.
