Kate's co-star in 'Revolutionary Road' reportedly has been 'a rock for her' as her marriage to director Sam Mendes began to crumble.
Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly helped
Kate Winslet through her marriage breakdown. The Sun reported that the actor who has starred opposite the Oscar-winning actress in both "Titanic" and "
Revolutionary Road", has became her shoulder to cry on when her marriage began to suffer on the set of the latter movie.
"Leo and Kate have been like brother and sister since they starred in Titanic together," a source told the publication. "And since Kate's marriage started to go south, around the time they were filming Revolutionary Road, they've got closer again. Kate has always really adored Leo and feels like she can tell him anything."
Their closeness was credited to the success they achieved together with "Titanic". The source said, "They were so young when Titanic came out, so it's fair to say they basically grew up together, professionally at least. They were thrust into stardom together and were the only people who knew what the other was going through. He's been a rock for her."
On Monday, March 15, Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes announced their separation. Their London-based law firm Shillings stated that the split is "amicable and is by mutual agreement". The couple also "committed to the future joint parenting of their children". Kate is currently on holiday with her children in Mexico.
Kate and Sam married in 2003. Together, they have a six-year-old son named Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes. Although there was no signs of trouble in their marriage when Kate received her first Oscar back in early 2009, the stress of filming "Revolutionary Road" reportedly has been said contributing to their shocking break-up.
