In his first interview after his infamous car crash, the World's No. 1 golfer opens up about letting things get so out of control, but leaves questions related to the night of the crash unanswered.
Months after his affairs with numerous women became the subject of media headlines,
Tiger Woods has come forward to answer questions. Speaking to Kelly Tilghman of the Golf Channel in his first interview since his infamous car crash in November 2009, the World's No. 1 golfer admitted that he actually tried to stop, but couldn't.
Asked why he couldn't say no, the 34-year-old responded, "I don't know, now I know. It's part of what I learned in treatment, being there for 45 days you learn a lot." He explained further, "You strip away the denial, the rationalization and you come to the truth and the truth is very painful at times and to stare at yourself and look at the person you've become you become disgusted."
Pressed with question how he let things get so out of control, the golfer answered, "Going against your core values, losing sight of it. I quit meditating, I quit being a Buddhist, and my life changed upside down. I felt entitled, which I had never felt before." He added, "Consequently, I hurt so many people by my own reckless attitude and behavior."
Talking about his return to The Masters, the father of two said, "I'm excited to get back and play. I miss the game. I miss playing, I miss competing. I wasn't ready to play in Tavistock or play in Bay Hill, I expressed that to Joe [Lewis, Tavistock Group chairman ] as well as Arnold [Palmer ]." He went on to say that he is ready to hit the golf course now.
When the questions turned to the night of his solo car crash, Woods avoided to give detailed information on what really happened. "It's all in the police report, they investigated it and they have it on public record; there's a lot of stuff between Elin [Nordegren] and I that will remain private and that's about it," he stated.
Although mentioning that he and wife Elin are working on their marriage, the professional golfer also preferred to keep things related to the status of his marriage under tight wraps. "We're working on it and it's a process that will remain private between her and I," so he claimed. More of the interview can be seen at .
