In response to the story suggesting that the 'Transformers' beauty has rejected a chance to star in the next 'Tomb Raider' movie to avoid comparison with Jolie, her rep states, 'This is made up.'
Rumor has it,
Megan Fox has turned down a chance to star as Lara Croft in the next "Tomb Raider" movie because of
Angelina Jolie comparison. However, a representative to the "
Transformers" beauty was quick to put off the speculation. To Gossip Cop, the rep simply stated, "This is made up."
It was Showbiz Spy which brought up the rejection rumor. The site cited a movie insider as saying, "The offer has been on the table for Megan for a while but she's reluctantly turned it down. She's the logical choice to play Lara and she loves the character but the comparison with Angelina is too much. It looks like the movie will now star an unknown."
Megan Fox has been rumored as a potential replacement of Angelina Jolie in "Tomb Raider 3" since early 2009. Previous reports claimed that she was favored to take on the heroine role since she shares a lot in common with the older actress. However, her spokesperson has insisted that the "
Jonah Hex" star is "not involved in the movie at all."
In previous interview, the 23-year-old actress has made comment on the reason why people compared her to Angelina. "The media has to package you and sell you somehow and sell their magazines so everybody has to be 'the new' or 'the next' someone or something," she said. "It was a way to market me and it was a way to sell their magazines or get hits on their blogs - because it makes people uncomfortable if they are unable to put you in a box."
