Liam Hemsworth has reportedly been offered the lead part of an aerobatics pilot that was turned down by Taylor, but it is not yet certain whether he will take it.
Liam Hemsworth could be taking over a lead role in "
Northern Lights" from
Taylor Lautner. According to Deadline Hollywood, the boyfriend of Disney star
Miley Cyrus has been offered the part of a gifted, young aerobatics pilot that was left vacant after Taylor chose to drop out from the project.
Providing support to Deadline's story, E! News confirmed that the offer was indeed made to Liam. A source close to the star of "
The Last Song" was cited as saying, "The offer is true, but who knows if he'll do it." While Taylor was to be paid $7.5 million for the part, there is no info on how much Liam will cash in should he take the job.
Deadline reported that several young actors have passed on the part since Taylor made his exit. On the reason why, an insider stated, "It's scaring some actors off because [producer] David [Ellison] has written himself a big role in the movie which he's also financing. What, you're going to work for your co-star who doesn't have a big body of work? I've never seen anything like this before."
"Northern Lights" were supposed to start shooting on April 1. The movie follows the adventures of three young pilots who are determined to be the best at extreme flying. It will be developed by David Ellison's new company Skydance Productions, with Paramount Pictures having a first look at the development.
Liam Hemsworth is offered the role that is described as an aerobatics pilot who faces off with his controlling, billionaire father and falls in love with a gifted, female pilot. Aside from this opportunity, the brother of actor
Chris Hemsworth has another project under his belt as he has signed on to star in "
Arabian Nights".
