Kate Nash: The Pussycat Dolls Are More Offensive Than Me

Although she swears regularly herself, the 'Foundations' singer slams the girls band because she believes that the group's name and raunchy lyrics are inappropriate for young fan base.

Kate Nash thinks The Pussycat Dolls are more offensive than her. The "Foundations" singer, whose own songs often include swear words, dislikes the American girl group because she believes their band name and raunchy lyrics are inappropriate for their young fan base.

"They do sexualized young children, it's a fact, look at their name 'pussy' and 'dolls'," she said. "But even though I say f**k and **** and cocaine in 'Mansion Song', there's nothing in there as offensive as 'Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?' "

Even though she swears regularly herself, Kate is adamant children won't be offended by her music. She explained, "I'm sympathetic, if people don't want their kids to hear it, they're offended by it, I accept responsibility. But I'm not going to censor myself. I'm not a TV presenter, I'm an artist."

"It's unfortunate really that I became a pop star, because that was accidental. I didn't mean to do that. So I apologize to parents who think that I'm going to offend their children. But I actually think, you know what, your children won't be offended."

Instead, the 22-year-old singer hopes her young fans will find her LP "My Best Friend is You" empowering. She said in an interview with The Times newspaper, "They'll come away from it not singing about stealing people's boyfriends."

"They're going to be singing about wanting to be an empowered woman with f***ing morals and brains and not thinking, 'I wanna be pretty, I wanna be thin, I wanna s**g people.' They're gonna be thinking, 'I wanna f***ing do something.' That's much better in my book."
