David Archuleta: Gay Bar Visit Was to Watch Charice

Clearing up speculations about his sexuality after being spotted at a gay club over the weekend, the 'American Idol' alum tweets, 'Wasn't my kind of place lol, and I had no clue!'

David Archuleta has been forced to fight off speculations about his sexual orientation after he was spotted at a gay club over the weekend. Making use of his Twitter account, the "American Idol" alum explained that he showed up at Club 57 in New York City on Saturday, April 17 to watch Charice performing.

"Hey guys just wanted to clear something up real quick lol. Last night in New York I got invited to go and see my friend Charice perform," the 19-year-old first tweeted. In the tweets following, he wrote, "Mental note to self: always ask where before you go! Wasn't my kind of place lol, and I had no clue! I guess you live and learn. The upside was that Charice was awesome, and she has an incredible voice."

"Hope that clears things up! Been seeing some of the tweets.. sheesh!" David further noted. "Can get crazy quick. NO worries all, I wouldn't get into things like that intentionally haha. Hope you guys have a good Sunday!" He added that Charice has apologized to him, tweeting "Charice is great and she didn't mean to do cause any harm haha. She apologized a lot after. She's way nice lol."

Charice herself has strengthened David's explanation over the gay bar sighting through her Twitter page. "Before i go to my interviews, i just want to clear up some things, about the saturday night. David went to see me there perform as a friend," she wrote. "But bottomline, David just showed his support for me. and i wanna thank @DavidArchie for doing that.."
