Friends of Doug laugh off speculations the former 'The Hills' star was only 'using' the blond heiress, claiming that he was the one who paid everything during their 14-month romance.

Friends of the former "The Hills" star have laughed off speculation he was only "using" the heiress to get more famous, insisting he paid for everything during their relationship, including buying her gifts, which include custom-made diamond jewelery, a Chanel watch and a puppy, and splashing out on luxury holidays to Fiji, Hawaii, Aspen and Anguilla.
"Doug never used Paris. He spent $2 million on her over the course of a year and a half. She never once paid for a single thing," one pal said. "Between flying private, private islands, etc... in reality he paid for everything."
Despite reports insisting it was the socialite's decision to call time on their 14-month romance, Doug is very happy to be single again. The friend added to Radar Online, "Doug is sick of Paris and really just wants all this to go away and focus on his future stuff."
Earlier this week, 29 year-old Paris, claimed she is "better off" without the 24-year-old reality TV star. She said, "I am, like, so past that, I don't even care. I don't even remember that time in my life. I am over it! I just realized that I'm better off without him. So I ended it because I deserve something much better! He wasn't right for me and I will eventually find somebody who loves me for who I am."
