Disney Channel has announced that the 17-year-old's TV series 'Wizards of Waverly Place' has been picked up for a fourth season with a sequel to its movie version being worked on.
Selena Gomez will continue to fill in the shoes of Alex Russo on "Wizards of Waverly Place". On Thursday, June 3, President of Entertainment and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, Gary Marsh, announced that the network has ordered a fourth season of her sitcom, and is developing a sequel to "
Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie".
The 17-year-old beauty, who is currently busy filming for "
Monte Carlo", will be once again joined by the original cast ensemble that include
David Henrie,
Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals Barrera and David DeLuise. In the new season, she will also share screen with Gregg Sulkin who will reprises his recurring guest role as Mason Greyback.
Production on the fourth season of "Wizards of Waverly Place" is scheduled to begin in August. Show runners Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio will be serving as executive producers along with series creator Todd J. Greenwald. New episodes of the sitcom is set to air Fridays at 8:30 P.M ET/PT on Disney Channel. Meanwhile, script for the sequel of the movie will be written by Dan Berendsen.
