As Mark is presented with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, his co-star on 'The Other Guys' cracks up those who are presence when he intentionally mistakes the former rapper with Matt Damon.
Oscar-nominated actor Mark Walhberg has received his star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. The 39-year-old, who first gained fame with hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, was joined by family and friends on Thursday, July 29 for the presentation of the honor, and could not hide his wide smile at the wisecrack introduction Will Ferrell made for him.
"I'm glad to be here. I first became a fan of Mark's when I bought his workout video," Will said before he intentionally mistook Mark as Matt Damon. "And I love all your 'Bourne' movies." He then turned serious as he praised his co-star on "The Other Guys", describing him as "not only one of the hardest-working guys, but a great family man and a great dude."
Taking over the stage to deliver his speech, Mark thanked "all the people gutsy enough to put me in movies." The actor, who looked sleek in his Giorgio Armani two-button peak lapel suit, also confessed, "I'm so happy my kids are sitting through this. When I heard I was getting this star, I felt like it was a practical joke."
Though he has been nominated for an Oscar for his role in "The Departed" and is an executive producer of hit HBO show "Entourage", Mark claimed his family is his proudest achievement. The former Calvin Klein model, who toward the end of his acceptance speech brought his toddler son with him, wrapped up by saying, "I gotta get this kid something to eat so I'm gonna go now."
Mark Wahlberg's star is the 2,414th addition to the famed attraction. It is located right off the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Meanwhile, his action comedy film with Will, "The Other Guys", will come out in theaters across the U.S. next Friday on August 6.
