Besides hitting the 'Good Morning America' stage for its Summer Concert Series in Central Park, the band also reveal their new album, 'The Beginning,' is due to be out at the end of the year.
Black Eyed Peas has lifted up the spirit of their fans when performing on "Good Morning America". Taking on the stage for the show's Summer Concert Series on Friday morning, July 30, the four-man band, who were dressed in robotic outfits, wowed the crowd gathered in Central Park with their hit songs.
Hosts Robin Roberts and Sam Champion introduced the band, before some black-and-white spandex-costumed dancers marched on stage followed by Fergie a.k.a. Stacy Ferguson, apl.de.ap, will.i.am and Taboo. They were quick to rock the stage with single "Boom Boom Pow". will.i.am concluded the performance with a shout, "Good Morning, New York City!"
After a short intermission, will.i.am revealed that they were "up late last night recording." Before the band continued on to deliver their "Rock That Body" song, it was unveiled that their single "I Gotta Feeling" off "The E.N.D." album has become the first song to hit the 6-million mark in digital downloads.
will.i.am himself has previously talked about the band's particular achievement. In a phone interview with The Associated Press, he said, "We came out in '98 and our career, if you would look at it on chart, there's no dips in it." He added, "For our career to still be healthy and vibrant and doing things like 6 million downloads, it's pretty significant."
Reasoning why the single itself has become a huge hit, the 35-year-old singer and producer said that "it was so successful was because it gave people hope in a downward time". He noted, "It's a positive, feel-good song at the time where there's question marks and uncertainty. People want to be reminded that it's going to be all right."
On the occasion, will.i.am also came up with the announcement that their new album entitled "The Beginning" is almost finished and tentatively due at the end of the year. He gushed, "It symbolizes growth, new beginnings and starts, fresh new perspective."
