Acknowledging the domination of Disney Channel on the Outstanding Children's Program nod, middle member Joe Jonas says, 'I think we're gonna have some friendly competition going on there.'
In early July, it has been unraveled that
Jonas Brothers have got a chance to win an award outside the scope of their music when their TV series "J.O.N.A.S!" came out as a nominee for Outstanding Children's Program at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Reacting to their first Emmy nomination, the musical trio recently shared to MTV News they will have some friendly competitions.
When sizing up the competition, middle member
Joe Jonas acknowledged, "There's a lot of Disney in there, so I think we're gonna have some friendly competition going on there." Their show, which has been retitled into "Jonas L.A.", is up against Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" and "Wizards of Waverly Place" as well as Nickelodeon's "iCarly".
The former boyfriend of
Demi Lovato elaborated his remark, "Me and ['Wizards' star]
David Henrie, we've been talking to each other and kind of making fun of each other here and there about the Emmy thing." He continued, "But whoever wins, it'll be cool for us to be honored. ... That is amazing in general."
20-year-old Joe, who represented his brothers
Kevin Jonas and
Nick Jonas, also expressed the band's excitement in getting the nod. He said, "We are very super excited! We've never been up for an Emmy before." He went on, "That's never been on our radar, so something like that's really exciting. We don't know who will win."
His younger brother Nick chimed in to answer the question what is behind the success of their series. "I think the continuous story line has really been intriguing for people," he explained. "It's good to see that the hard work we put into making the show is paying off in a way and hopefully it'll continue to do it's thing."
The winners of 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced during a gala ceremony that will be taking place at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, August 29. It will be aired live on NBC at 8 P.M. ET/PT with
Jimmy Fallon serving as host. With 19 noms, "Glee" has the second largest amount of behind "The Pacific", which collected 24 nods. "Mad Men", in the meantime, picked up 17 nominations.
