When her co-star/director in the crime thriller praises her of being 'very poised and comfortable' during the filming, the 'Gossip Girl' beauty points out, 'I guess it was good to break the ice.'
Blake Lively apparently has to push through awkwardness when filming sex scene with
Ben Affleck during her first day of shooting "
The Town". During a chat with her on-screen lover who also happens to be the director of the action crime thriller for Interview magazine, the "Gossip Girl" beauty thanked him for that.
The 22-year-old came up with the remark after Ben praised her for being "very poised and comfortable" and "more mature than some of the crew members" during the filming of the scene. "The sex scene was really awkward. It was my first day, so thank you for that," she said. After Ben responded by saying "You're welcome", she added with a laugh, "I guess it was good to break the ice."
Sharing the secret why she can be comfortable despite the situation, Blake said, "Well, I have a big family and no one ever treated me like a child. They always treated me like an adult, like an equal." She elaborated, "But with acting, I think half of it is just acting confident. We stand on these red carpets and pose in these dresses, but we're all only so confident. It doesn't mean we think we're great looking or anything. It's all a facade."
During the interview, the Bridget Vreeland of "
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" claimed that she was "naturally very shy". When Ben said he doesn't see her as a shy girl, she argued, "Well, I had to be bold with you! I had to be brave because this role was terrifying. But it was all smoke and mirrors because I read the script and I didn't know how I couldn't do it."
"I loved this character so much," she went on. "I was a little selfish in wanting to do it because I also thought, Well, maybe I'm not the best person for this, but I really want it. I didn't know how to do a good Boston accent, so I went and got a dialect coach, and she was really good, but it was a real proper accent I was learning, and my character is from the projects."
In "The Town", Blake takes on the role of Krista, the ex-girlfriend of Ben's Doug MacRay. Her character is described as a hard-bitten but self-destructive single mother who deals drugs to get by and still harbors feelings for her disengaged, distracted former flame.
