The 'White Liar' crooner leads the nominees list of the 44th annual CMA Awards with nine nominations, making her the female singer with the most nominations in a single year at the awards.
The 44th Annual CMA Awards has yet to announce its winners, but
Miranda Lambert has already become the most shining female artist in its 43-year history. As the final round of nominations was made public on Wednesday, September 1, the 27-year-old country singer came out as the dominant leader on the list with nine nods and made CMA Awards history by being the female singer with the most nominations in a single year.
In addition to Entertainer of the Year, the former finalist of "Nashville Star" has the chance to win Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for her effort "Revolution". A day earlier, she was unraveled to be the recipient of nominations for Vocal Event of the Year, Video of the Year, Single of the Year and Song of the Year as well.
"I'm really shocked at some of my nominations, definitely," Miranda said on ABC's "Good Morning America" after announcing the final round of the nominees. "I'm going to start putting '10' on everything. It's my lucky number, I guess. I got engaged, had some great things happen at the ACMs. Now the CMA...nine nominations. I never would have even thought I was eligible for nine."
Lady Antebellum, who closely followed Miranda at the first round of the nominations with four nods, received a total of five gongs with the additional nom of Entertainer of the Year. "The year just keeps getting better and better," member Dave Haywood said. "Charles, Hillary and I are so thankful for our families and also the family we've made in Nashville within the music industry who continue to support us on this crazy ride."
Collecting four nominations each were Miranda's fiance
Blake Shelton and the
Zac Brown Band. Meanwhile, country star
Carrie Underwood only scored two nods this time around. She is up for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for her latest effort "Play On".
Taylor Swift got even less love from the awards since she was only nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year.
The handing out of the trophies for 2010 CMA Awards will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on November 10. Carrie Underwood and
Brad Paisley have been tapped to co-host the event for their third consecutive years, while has been unraveled last Tuesday on August 31.
