After he and brother Nick Jonas completed a five kilometer fun run that benefits Special Olympics Florida, the Jonas Brothers member takes the stage to presents awards to the top five fundraisers.
Setting aside some time from his busy touring schedule with Jonas Brothers for a good cause, Joe Jonas has brought some star power to iWin 5k Fun Run in Ft. Lauderdale. On Labor Day, September 6, the 21-year-old singer took part in the charity run and gave the top five fundraisers something worth remembering.
The former boyfriend of Demi Lovato, who wore black sports gear with a yellow-laced shoes, got on stage to hand out special award for the top five fund earners and pose for pictures with them individually. The awards ceremony was held immediately after he completed a five kilometer run at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, which his brother Nick Jonas also took part off.
iWin 5k Fun Run is a part of a series of races Joe has hosted and participated in through his Change for the Children Foundation to benefit the Special Olympics. Proceeds from the event will benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Florida. To CBS4, he explained, "The run is special because it's not a race, everybody is a winner, everybody knows that they're giving back and they have an opportunity to get out there and be able to give."
Joe continued, "I think for all of us, me and my brothers are always trying to do something like that with certain charities or things that we have a passion for and this is something I definitely have a heart for." As for why he chooses to support the Special Olympics, he said, "I think it's just these amazing athletes are so special to me. They are so talented and I think when I see them at my concerts they are just an inspiration to me and I just want to be able to give back to them."
