The former member of 'Saturday Night Live' Amy has been set to host the season premiere of 'Saturday Night Live' on September 25 when the 'Teenage Dream' hitmaker is tapped as musical guest.
Amy Poehler and
Katy Perry will team up on the season premiere of NBC's "Saturday Night Live". According to Entertainment Weekly (EW), 38-year-old Amy will make her return to the late-night sketch comedy series on September 25 as a guest host, while the "Teenage Dream" hitmaker is set to appear as the musical guest.
25-year-old Katy herself has confirmed the news through her Twitter account. On Tuesday, September 7, She tweeted, "OKAY! My BIG surprise is I'm opening the season of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE on Sept 25 W/SNL Alum Amy Poehler!!!" She followed it up later with another post that read, "Dear Amy Poehler can I please be your braced faced neighbor friend that hangs out with you & RICKKKKK!"
Amy, who gives voice to Eleanor in "
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel", was actually a member of the sketch comedy program from 2001 to 2008. She decided to drop out of the show after she lands a role as Leslie Knope on "Parks and Recreation", another NBC's comedy series that has earned her four Emmy nominations.
In addition to Amy and Katy's news, EW reported that "SNL" will added four featured players to the show to help filling in the void left by Will Forte. They are actor/comedian Taran Killam, Chicago-based comedians Paul Brittain and Vanessa Bayer, as well as newcomer Jay Pharoah, who has previously appeared on BET's "One Mic Stand".
