After Eminem kicks off this year's Video Music Awards with his 'Not Afraid', the 'Rude Boy' hitmaker pops out on stage and starts singing the chorus of their hit duet 'Love the Way You Lie'.
Rihanna has provided the first big surprise on this year's MTV Video Music Awards. While earlier it was reported that she won't be joining Eminem because of her commitment to "Battleship", the "Rude Boy" singer popped out on stage when the rapper kicked off the annual show on Sunday, September 12.
Clad in a white gauzy dress and a flaming red wig bisected by a silver headband, the Barbadian beauty worked up the crowd inside the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles when she started belting out the chorus of "Love the Way You Lie". As Eminem spitted his verse, she walked slowly to join him in the middle of the stage. They ended the performance with a hug.
Before Rihanna made her surprise performance, Eminem opened the festivity with his "Not Afraid". The rapper, who already won two Moonmen for Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video for the single, emerged on the dark stage in a black hoodie and holding a gleaming silver microphone. He ripped the tune accompanied by a full string section, chorus of Taiko drummers and a gospel choir.
2010 MTV Video Music Awards is underway. Prior to the show, Nicki Minaj who is a nominee in the Best new Artist category hyped up the event with her pre-show performance. Donning a cotton candy pink wig and purple spacesuit and accompanied by two dancers, she delivered two of her singles, "Your Love" and "Check It Out".
