's sister is fighting for her life in hospital after falling from a window and impaling herself on railings. Paloma Penniman, the pop star's 28-year-old sibling, was believed to be sitting on a window-ledge three floors up in her home in Kensington, west London, when she lost her balance and fell on a spiked barrier below in the early hours of Sunday, October 10 morning.
Both her legs were impaled on the railings, and another spike pierced her abdomen. Mika, who had been out for dinner with his sister earlier in the evening and was at the apartment at the time of the incident, frantically called emergency services, who arrived at approximately 5 A.M.
A family friend told The Sun newspaper, "To say he's traumatized by this doesn't even come close. It's the stuff of nightmares. Paloma had surgery today on her abdomen and legs - but she is critically ill. Mika is out of his mind with worry. No one really knows what happened. One minute Paloma was sitting on the window-ledge, the next she had fallen on to the railings."
It is thought that firefighters had to cut a section of the railings and take them to hospital with the stylist. A Metropolitan police spokesperson said, "Police were called to an address at 5.15 this morning, after reports a woman was impaled on railings after falling from a window."
A spokesman for the 27-year-old singer added, "She is in a critical but stable state. The family have asked for privacy at this time."
