The 'Your Love' raptress and the Black Eyed Peas frontman present a sort of 'ode to Japanese culture and Japanese anime' through this official music video for their joint single.
Nicki Minaj and
will.i.am have finally given their fans a full look into the official music video for their joint single "Check It Out". The Harajuku-inspired clip, which captures Nicki and will getting animated, was premiered on the
Black Eyed Peas frontman's media blog Dipdive on Monday, October 25.
This music video takes place on an international talk-show in front of a small audience. As the two continue to deliver their lines, Asian letters pop up around them. Will previously told The BoomBox, "The subject matter of the song is check out whatever it is you try and let fools know. This is like, 'check my style out,' so we like rocking crazy different styles in the video performance."
Nicki herself has previously opened up about the concept of the video. To MTV News, the "Your Love" raptress explained, "We're doing almost like an ode to Japanese culture and Japanese anime. I'm obviously a big fan and I've joined forces with like the only boy that I know that's also able to capture that culture."
"Check It Out" is written and performed by Nicki and will. Sampling The Buggles'1979 hit single "Video Killed the Radio Star", it will appear on Nicki's debut album "Pink Friday" which is due for U.S. release on November 22. Its music video was shot over the weekend of September 26 in a studio in Los Angeles with director Rich Lee behind the lens.
