Jennifer Carpenter, the Joan Brandwyn of "
Mona Lisa Smile" insists that she has nothing to do with the couple's separation.
"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together," the 29-year-old said in a statement. "This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life private, I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter."
Michael and Jennifer, who star along with Julia on "Dexter", have announced their split through their representative earlier this week. "Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce," so the rep confirmed before adding that it was an "amicable" separation.
Michael's estranged wife, Jennifer, had filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court earlier. In the documents obtained by TMZ, she cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split, and asks for spousal support and for attorney's fees. As for the date of the separation, the 31-year-old actress listed August 9.
