After retracting his Twitter post about letting Britney be number 1, the 'H.A.M' rapper tweets, 'On a serious note I'm truly happy for @AvrilLavigne and @BritneySpears...'
has made amends for taking a playful jab at Britney Spears
over her chart domination. After retracting the tweet he sent to the pop singer that picked up his infamous interruption of Taylor Swift
's acceptance speech at 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the "Monster" rapper used his Twitter to offer clarification.
On Friday, January 14, the 33-year-old rapper tweeted, "On a serious note I'm truly happy for @AvrilLavigne and @BritneySpears... No hate in 2011!" In a following posting, he wrote, "I thought LOL signified a joke... I didn't get the 2011 LOL doesn't signify a joke anymore memo... LOL or something else I guess."
Yeezy sparked a war with Britney after the songstress topped the iTunes Singles chart with single "Hold It Against Me" and put his collaboration with Jay-Z, "H.A.M", on the second position. He tweeted, "Yo Britney, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z
's single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL."
The "Heartless" hitmaker has since removed the tweet, but it didn't stop Britney's camp from issuing a sarcastic response to the rapper's taunt. Manager Adam Leber made use of the "Womanizer" hitmaker's official Twitter account to shoot back by writing, "@kanyewest Thanks for "letting" us be #1. Much appreciated...."
