'The Fighter' actress takes home her second Oscar with her Best Supporting Actress win at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, while the third 'Toy Story' bags Best Animated Feature.
The ceremony of the 83rd Annual Academy Awards are underway inside the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, and some of the winners have been unveiled. Among those bagging the first wins on the Sunday night, February 27 gala were Melissa Leo
and "Toy Story 3
50-year-old Melissa won the first acting award of the evening and took home her second Golden Man statuette after winning Best Actress in 2008. This year, she was hailed as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "The Fighter
". She bested her won co-star Amy Adams
as well as three other nominees, Hailee Steinfeld
, Helena Bonham Carter
and Jacki Weaver.
"Oh wow, really truly, wow. I'm just shaking in my boots here," the "Frozen River
" star said upon receiving the honor. Amid her excitement, she also managed to utter a bleeped-out f-word and asked presenter Kirk Douglas
to pinch her as she received the accolade.
"Toy Story 3" was later announced as the winner of Best Animated Feature. Besting over "How to Train Your Dragon
" and "The Illusionist
", the Lee Unkrich-directed CGI-movie became the fourth Pixar release to win the category.
Two other early winners were "Alice in Wonderland
" and "Inception
". Tim Burton-directed "Alice" secured a win in the category of Best Art Direction, while Christopher Nolan-directed "Inception" won Best Cinematography for Wally Pfister.
