Representative has addressed speculation that the '127 Hours' star was under the influence during his gig at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, insisting the actor 'does not drink or do drugs ever'.
James Franco was not stoned when he co-hosted the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. After the Sunday, February 27 ceremony, the "
127 Hours" actor was blasted for being distant and uninterested during the telecast, promoting some to speculate he might take a something to calm his nerves, but his representative has stepped out to clear up the air.
Shooting down the rumor, representative for the Oscar-nominated actor told E! News that the 32-year-old was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the gig. "James does not drink or do drugs ever," so the rep insisted. Other sources also stressed that the "
Your Highness" actor was not "a partier".
It was not the first time anyone have assumed James was a stoner. "127 Hours" director, Danny Boyle, has previously told E! that he also got a wrong first impression of the actor. "I wasn't sure at first," he said at the time. "We met him and he was so relaxed, he looked stoned to me. People say that about him. But he's not. In fact, he's abstemious."
For the Oscars flop, James was not only accused of getting high, but was also said sharing mutual hatred with co-host
Anne Hathaway. According to Us Magazine, the "
Milk" actor and the "
Love and Other Drugs" actress grew to hate each other during rehearsals. Both of their representatives have thrown cold water to the rumor with Anne's rep insisting, "Anne adores James and had a wonderful time hosting the Oscars with him." .
