The 'Just the Way You Are' hitmaker had learned people were watching him as public figure, so he won't do a foolish thing again.
Bruno Mars was arrested in Las Vegas last September after being caught with cocaine and while Bruno doesn't believe he has any obligation to set a good example to his fans he doesn't want to repeat the experience. He told America's GQ magazine, "I'm not gonna preach that I'm a role model. I'm a f***ing musician! But I've learned people are watching, so don't do nothing stupid."
The 25-year-old Grammy nominee, real name Peter Gene Hernandez, agreed earlier this year to pay a fine of $2,000 and complete 200 hours of community service in a plea bargain which will see his criminal record remain clear, as long as he doesn't re-offend in the next year.
Bruno landed himself in trouble when a bathroom attendant suspected him of taking drugs in the toilets of the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel. Security confronted him after the staff member complained he was "taking a really long time" and he was found to be in possession of the drug.
The "Just the Way You Are" hit-maker was then arrested after tests proved the substance was cocaine. He later said he "did a foolish thing" and had "never used drugs before".
