While earlier reports claimed he lost his dream role to Penn Badgley, the 'Twilight Saga' heartthrob is still interested in taking part in a second upcoming film about the late guitarist.

, but he still has a chance to play the character. E! Online reported that producers Michelle Sy and Orian Williams have confirmed they're "in the midst of casting" their own Jeff for a second movie, the untitled Jeff Buckley project.
When speaking to E!, the producers did confirm that the "Twilight Saga" actor "has expressed interest in the project". They added, "We did meet with him," before explaining further, "There are some actors who make sense, but it's easier to believe when it's more of an unknown. We're exploring all options, everyone from big name actors to newcomers to musicians."
Asked what criteria is needed to land the role in the movie directed by "Welcome to the Rileys
" helmer Jake Scott, Michelle and Orian explained, "In real life Jeff was a goofball, his friends told us to look for a young Jim Carrey
." They continued to stress, "But we just want to find the right person with the right soul."
The producers additionally revealed they're also looking for an actress to play Jeff's on-screen girlfriend. "There will be a love interest, but we won't cast her until after we have figured out who will be playing Jeff," they said. "It will depend on how old the actor is who is cast and who would be an appropriate choice to play opposite him."
Michelle and Orian continued to share, "We hope to have the cast announced soon, prep for the film in September and shoot before the end of the year. We only have one chance to do this and we want to do it right. We're not casting to justify financing, we're casting to justify a life."
