Commenting on the speculations if 'Hunger Games' could be a big franchise like the 'Twilight Saga', Jennifer says, 'It's really premature to say that it will be the same phenomenon.'
has weighed in on the comparison people made between her highly anticipated movie "The Hunger Games
" and the popular "Twilight
Saga" film franchise. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Katniss Everdeen of Suzanne Collins' novel adaptation said her film is different from the Kristen Stewart
-starring vampire series.
Asked if she worries the film will become a massive phenomenon like "Twilight", the "Winter's Bone
" actress responded, "I try not to think too much about it." She further pointed out, " 'Hunger Games' is not 'Twilight', and while I hear the comparisons, it's really premature to say that it will be the same phenomenon."
"I'm so proud of the work we did on the film, [director] Gary [Ross] and the entire cast and crew were amazing, and I can't wait for it to be brought to life because I think it's an important story," the actress, who ditched her blond locks and went brunette to play Katniss, added. "If it does become a crazy phenomenon, I'll soak up my freedom now!"
During the chat, the Mystique of "X-Men: First Class
" also talked about the most challenging experience she had while filming "Hunger Games". She recalled, "When we were filming in the woods, it didn't have that Hollywood gloss, it was real snakes, real bears, and really scenes of running up and down a mountain for 13 hours."
"The Hunger Games", which will open in U.S. theaters on March 23, 2012, centers on Katniss as she replaces her little sister in a fight-to-the death live televised event. Although persevering through hardship is commonplace for her, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.
