The Rachel Berry of 'Glee' explains that her skinny look in the summer of 2010 was due to a surgery she had for an infection in her jaw.
Lea Michele has clarified rumors that she had an eating disorder after showing off a very thin look in the summer of 2010. Insisting that the speculations hold no truth, the "Glee" star told December issue of Allure magazine, "I'm half Italian, I can eat some b****es under the table."
"People get confused. [They assume] I just eat grass," Lea added. The 25-year-old New York-born actress further explained that her weight loss at that time was a result of a surgery she had when she suffered an infection in her jaw.
During the chat, the former girlfriend of Theo Stockman also shared that she is confident with her body. "Have I been asked to change anything? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. When I was 15, my mother and I went to meet a manager who said, 'You have to get a nose job in order for me to work with you," she recalled.
"My mother would say to me, '
Barbra Streisand never got a nose job. You're not getting a nose job.' And this was before I really even knew who Barbra was," she continued. "I just knew that she was, like, the messiah for girls like me."
In addition to speaking about her physique, Lea opened up about the controversial photo shoot she did last year with her "Glee" co-stars
Dianna Agron and
Cory Monteith. At that time, she and Dianna donned sexy schoolgirl outfits and posed provocatively with Cory.
"People were really offended by this, being that we play high-school students. But we're not high-school students! Cory is almost 30, and Dianna and I are 25. But there was such controversy," the former Broadway star said. "I do try to keep in mind that there are a lot of young viewers watching our show. But it's a delicate balance, continuing to be who you are but also remembering you're in a certain position. But would I do the shoot again? Absolutely."
