People around the world are mourning the loss of R & B legend
Etta James.
Rihanna and
Miley Cyrus were some of the celebrities who took to Twitter to remember the "At Last" singer who passed away at the age of 73 on Friday, January 20.
Soon after news about the passing of the music veteran broke out, Riri wrote, "#DearEtta may you rest in peace." Meanwhile, Miley retweeted one of her followers who posted a message which read, "Music legend Etta James died today from complications of leukemia."
Beside Riri and Miley, other musicians who paid tribute to Etta were
Katy Perry and Hayley Williams. The "E.T." singer wrote, "rest in peace songbird, #EttaJames." Meanwhile, the
Paramore frontwoman tweeted, "#EttaJames, I will be forever grateful for your voice and your soul. Rest in peace."
Jessie J reacted to the news in a longer message. "Just been told the legend that is Etta James has passed. Thank you for your voice your dedication to us and your gift. Your voice is timeless and will forever live on. I will always look to you for inspiration. R.I.P <3," so she stated.
Etta James died after years of struggling with leukemia. She also suffered from dementia and hepatitis C. When confirming her death, manager Lupe De Leon told CNN, "This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world." He added, "She was a true original who could sing it all-her music defied category."
