Introduced by Paris Jackson, Justin says of MJ, 'He was an inspiration the way he was kind, he was gentle and very charitable. That's why I look up to him.'
Justin Bieber attended Michael Jackson's hand and footprint ceremony outside Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Thursday, January 26. A big fan of the late King of Pop, the "Baby" hitmaker delivered a heartfelt speech. He's introduced by MJ's daughter Paris, who coyly admitted that she's a fan of the Canadian singer's.
When giving his speech, Justin admitted that he's "kind of really nervous." He said, "Basically because Michael meant so much to me and I know he meant a lot to you guys as well. He was more than entertainer. He was an inspiration the way he was kind, he was gentle and very charitable. That's why I look up to him."
"People are going to remember him for his dancing and singing, but people have to remember him for being the man that he was. I think everybody right now should give Michael a round of applause," the 17-year-old singer/songwriter went on. "Everything I do, I look at Michael and I want to be as good as he was."
Before ending his speech, the popstar said, "I used to look in the mirror and sing 'Rockin' Robin' to myself when I was really little. I want to sing a little of that for you guys." He then did an impromptu rendition of the Bobby Day classic hit, which was covered by Michael back in 1972. "I love you Michael," he said before leaving the stage.
In addition to Justin and Paris, the ceremony was also attended by Michael's sons, Prince and Blanket, as well as some other members of the Jackson clan. Fellow artists like Quincy Jones, Chris Tucker and Smokey Robinson were also spotted attending the event to show their support for them.
