Magnolia Pictures has picked up the distribution right for the drama movie, which features the 'Twilight Saga' hottie as George Duroy, a man who uses his wits and charms to gain power in Paris.
Robert Pattinson will steam up the U.S. theaters with his new movie this summer. "
Bel Ami", which has the British heartthrob as the leading actor, has been picked up for distribution by Magnolia Pictures and will be released in cinemas across the nation on June 8.
"Bel Ami is a well-crafted, appealing film with a terrific ensemble cast," Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles said in a statement announcing the release date. Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod serve as directors with the script written by Rachel Bennette.
In the movie based on the short story by Guy de Maupassant, Robert portrays the young and very ambitious Georges Duroy, who uses his wits and powers of seduction to work his way up the social and professional ranks in 1890's Paris. He moves from a prostitute's embrace to passionate trysts with wealthy beauties who inhabit where sex is power and celebrity an obsession, and where politics and media jostle for influence.
Starring opposite the Cedric Diggory of "
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" are
Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas,
Christina Ricci and Holliday Grainger among others. The cast members, including Robert and Christina, have promoted the movie at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February this year.
