After discovering that her boyfriend is cheating, Katy lets out her masculine side by deciding to take part in a tough training of Marine recruitment.
Katy Perry shows off her masculine side in a music video for her new single "Part of Me". After finding out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with a blond beauty, the songstress decides to move on by joining a military service. Cutting off her hair really short, she is seen taking part in some intense physical trainings at the boot camp.
When premiering the action-packed clip on MTV on Wednesday, March 21, the "Firework" hitmaker gushed on her video. "Well, I think that everybody can see that I love to take chances with my video, and also have a lot of fun," she said before adding, "It's an affirmation of strength, so I wanted to go the strongest route I ever could."
Katy revealed that she once thought about joining the service, saying, "Literally, I was like, 'I'm gonna join the service. I'm gonna join the Marines'." She went on explaining about the shooting of the video, "We used only Marines... For three days, I was a wannabe Marine, which was so difficult."
Directed by Ben Mor, the clip was shot over several days in February at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base in Oceanside, California. "Those people work hard and work out. I learned how to flip someone. I learned how to flip them on their back. I learned how to wrestle underwater," she recalled. "I just love it and I think people really respond to it. People can catch the BS...and I just wanted to really go for it."
"Part of Me" will be featured on Katy's upcoming "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" album, which will be released in the U.S. on March 27.
