Kristen rocks a stylish Balenciaga dress by Nicolas Ghesquiere, while Ashley glams up in a Donna Karan Atelier white grecian gown at the annual fashion event in New York City.

Kristen Stewart went high fashion as she stepped on the red carpet of the 2012 Met Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 7. Making her grand entrance as one of the most anticipated arrivals, the "Twilight Saga" beauty stole the spotlight with her stylish look.

The rumored girlfriend of Robert Pattinson brought color to the red carpet by donning a Balenciaga dress by Nicolas Ghesquiere. She finished off her fashionable look with a pair of black heels with white stripes details on the front.

Another "Twilight Saga" star who drew attention during her arrival was Ashley Greene. Unlike Kristen who opted for a daring outfit, Ashley oozed her inner goddess in a Donna Karan Atelier white grecian gown. The brunette beauty didn't wear too many accessories and chose to finish off her glamorous look with a simple clutch bag.

Also spotted sporting fashionable look during the star-studded event was Rooney Mara. The New York-born actress glammed up in a Givenchy sheer black dress. She paired her Gothic gown with dark lipstick and smokey-eye makeup.

The high-class fashion gala was additionally attended by the likes of Emma Roberts who donned an orange tube dress, Diane Kruger who opted for a classy purple dress, Gwyneth Paltrow who kept it simple in a pastel-colored mini dress, and Leslie Mann who glammed up in a ruffle dress. The Jonas Brothers were also spotted hitting the red carpet, looking dapper in traditional black suit and bowtie.

This year's Costume Institute Gala Benefit was co-chaired by Carey Mulligan, Vouge editor Anna Wintour and designer Miuccia Prada. The event was also held to celebrate the opening of the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition.
