Rumor has it, the 'Part of Me' singer was romancing the Florence and the Machine member as a distraction from her failed marriage to 'Rock of Ages' actor Russell Brand.
is back on the single market. Words have run rampant that the "Teenage Dream" hitmaker has called it quits with rumored boyfriend Robert Ackroyd, whom she was spotted sharing hugs and kisses with at Coachella Music Festival back in April. A source suggested that the romance wasn't a serious one from the get-go.
"It wasn't serious. She likes him a lot, but it was just a distraction," the source dished on the situation to E! News. "It was very short-lived, she's still dealing with getting over her marriage and it's going to take her a while to truly be able to trust anyone again."
It was further said that despite the split, Perry remains friends with the
Florence and the Machine member. "They were never serious to begin with, and she had doubts about it from the start," the source explained. "There are no hard feelings, they are both just very busy and had no expectations. Rob is a good guy, but she just wants to focus on her work."
The break-up news came shortly after Perry made an appearance at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, May 20. Instead of bringing Ackroyd to the event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, she had her grandmother by her side. "My date to tonight's Billboard Music Awards is hotter than the las vegas weather," she tweeted. "SMOKIN'!"
